Pey-Chwen LIN, born in Taiwan in 1959, is the first Asian artist to receive the First Prize in the “New Media Art” category at the 2019 Florence Biennale in Italy, and was awarded the prestigious “Lorenzo Award.” She received a Doctorate of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong in Australia in 1996 and served as a professor and director of the Graduate School of Multimedia and Animation Arts at the National Taiwan University of Arts. She is currently the director of the “Lin Pey-Chwen Digital Art Lab.”
After returning to Taiwan from the United States in 1989, Lin held her first exhibition at the “American Cultural Center” and joined the avant-garde art group “Apartment 2.” In 1998, she published the first book on Taiwanese women’s art titled “Women Art Discourse” and co-founded the “Taiwan Women’s Art Association” becoming one of the key advocates for women’s art in Taiwan. Since 2010, she has been promoting digital art research and exhibitions in Taiwan and published the first book on Taiwanese digital art, Taiwan Digital Art E Files. She is one of the pioneers of digital art in Taiwan and has been invited as a distinguished guest, moderator, and jury member for numerous domestic and international conferences and events.
Her works “Eve Clone” series have been exhibited at lots of major art exhibitions both domestically and internationally, her recent exhibitions including the Florence Biennale, Taipei Biennial, Taiwan Biennial, Poland International Media Art Biennale, France “Exit and Via” Art Festival, “Art Woman 2020” International Exhibition in Italy, “40 Years of Taiwanese Contemporary Art” Exhibition, “Asian Contemporary Women Artists” Exhibition, and Singapore International Art Fair. The film Eve Clone Babel I received numerous international awards and honors, including “Best Women Empowerment Film” at the 2025 Berlin Short Film Awards, “Best Animation” at the 2025 Milan Indie Film Festival, and “Best Web/New Media Film” at the London Women Film Festival.

Achievements
The Winner of the First Prize of New Media Art in 2019 Italy XII Florence Biennial of International Award ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’. Base in Taipei and Kaohsiung in Taiwan, Pey-Chwen Lin was born in Taiwan in 1959. She has received many art awards and recognitions, including Taiwan Chung-Shing Award, Taiwan Public Art Award, Taiwan Arts and Business Award, Red Dot Award, Australian Visa of Distinguished Talent, One of The Best Asian Artists Selected by Picasso Mio, The First Prize (FELLOWSHIP PRIZE 2020 – Platinum Certificate Award in Art Project category) in Art Woman 2020 International Exhibition, PPLG Project & Services for the Culture and Contemporary Art Italy, and 2022 “Tatler Asia” The Most Influential artist. The work “Eve Clone Babel I,”which collaborated with musician Zong Chiang for a performance, won dual gold awards for ‘New Media & Music’ and ‘Exhibition & Events’ at the 2024 MUSE AWARD in the United States. In addition to winning the MUSE Gold Award for performance, “Eve Clone Babel I” received numerous international film awards and honors In 2025 including the Award of “Best of Women Empowerment Film” at the 2025 Berlin Short Film Award, the Award of Best Animation at 2025 Milan Indie Film Festival, the “Best Web/New Media Film Award” at the London Women Film Festival and the Finalist and Official Selections at Hollywood International Golden Age Festival, New York International Women Festival, Florence Indie Film Festival, Paris Women Cinefest, and in 2024, including the Award of Special Mention at One Real Short, the Award of Recognition at the Best Shorts Competition, and finalist honors at the Cannes Film Festival, European Short Film Festival, and Berlin Short Awards. Achievements of Lin Pey-Chwen Digital Art Lab
Pey-Chwen Lin founded “Lin Pey-Chwen Digital Art Lab” in 2001 as part of Department of Multimedia and Animation Arts at National Taiwan University of Arts. Many works created by the lab’s members with Prof. Jason Lee’s technical assistance have gained many awards such as Taipei Art Awards, Taipei International Digital Art Award, Da Dun Prize, K. T. Award, Taipei Performance Art Prize, 404 International Art Festival, International Shanghai Electronic Art Festival, Chinese Character Art Festival, Taipei Shanghai 2 Cities’ Cultural and Art Exhibition, International D&AD Student Awards in England, Siggraph Asia, Arte Laguna Prize in Italy, The Special Jury Award and the First Prize in Enghien-les- Bains Digital Art Festival in France. In 2010, Professor Lin led a team to create the interactive performance works “Nexus” and “Happening Rehearsal “have selected by Taipei Interactive Performance Award. “Nexus” even gained a grant from Taiwan’s Council of Cultural Affairs’ flagship program for technology and performance arts. This work was also nominated during the 12th International Prague Quadrennial. ”Lin Pey-Chwen Digital Art Lab” is one of the most important digital art groups in Taiwan with lot of international achievements and reputation.
