Eve Clone Babel I, II

Media: 3D animation, digital music, ancient images, AI software, dancers and motion capture systems
Year: 2023
Duration: 9:30

The film begins with the “Eve Clone” standing atop a tall tower in the pose of Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, against the backdrop of an ancient image of the Tower of Babel. Her body gradually transforms into a blue grid structure as she proudly moves her limbs, displaying seductive charm and authority. Upon the tower’s summit she continues to dance and leap, passing like a ghost through the course of history into today’s digital age, seeking to rule the entire city. As recorded in the Book of Revelation: “The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.” (Revelation 17:18)

The “Eve Clone” then summons her replicas, who collectively dive into the underlayers of the city in search of objects to devour, while the background music advances and intensifies in sync with her restless movements. In the end, the “Eve Clone” climbs upward from within the dome of the Tower of Babel; the dome gradually transforms into her eyeball and pupil, and finally a gigantic digital grid-like face emerges, bearing the 666 mark of the beast on its forehead, with a golden head and the hair of the Vitruvian Man—a “great idol.”

The entire work re-enacts humanity’s desire to challenge God—from the Tower of Babel in Genesis to the even greater Babylon cities and towers constructed today through politics, economics, culture, and technology.
